Catechism of the Catholic Church

The Catechism of the Catholic Church states that "human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person - among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life . . . Sermon on the Mount

Expert testimony given by Irish medical professionals who rejected euthanasia, assisted suicide and assisted dying; Alleged News

  • Professor Siobhan MacHale, consultant liaison psychiatrist at Beaumont Hospital and College of Psychiatrists member, said: "The answer to this is not to end our patients’ lives," but, rather, to determine how we can improve the situation with "evidence-based interventions". [1]
  • Dr. Anne Doherty, also of the College of Psychiatrists and also a consultant liaison psychiatrist, called for "full access to adequate palliative care and mental healthcare," and said: "It would be a travesty if assisted dying became a substitute for assistance in living." [1]
  • Dr Eric Kelleher, consultant liaison psychiatrist and a member of the College’s Human Rights and Ethics Committee, said that euthanasia and "assisted dying" formed a slippery slope, saying that if it was legalised in Ireland, it would become impossible to "limit it to just one group". He also advised against "normalising" euthanasia and "assisted dying" as it could "expose more people to vulnerability."  [1]
  • Professor Ella Arensman, chief scientist at the National Suicide Research Foundation, said that Ireland should look closely at what has happened in other countries since they legalised euthanasia: “When we look at the evolution of the development of countries like Netherlands and Belgium, it appeared too frequently that rigorous mental health assessments were not followed through intensively with disastrous or close to disastrous outcomes." UNITED KINGDOM; DIRECTOR ISABEL VAUGHAN-SPRUCE AND FR SEAN GOUGH FOUND NOT GUILTY FOR SILENTLY PRAYING NEAR A CLOSED ABORTION CENTER; ALLEGED NEWS

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-8M4_1y8L0

UNITED KINGDOM: DIRECTOR ISABEL VAUGHAN-SPRUCE - WHO WAS ARRESTED FOR PRAYING OUTSIDE AN ABORTION BUSINESS - HAS BEEN FOUND NOT GUILTY; ALLEGED NEWS. [1] Director Vaughan-Spruce is Director of the UK March for Life, and has volunteered for many years in support of women in crisis pregnancies.

Arrested for praying silently

British police arrested Director Vaughan-Spruce late last year for praying silently outside an abortion facility in Birmingham after a censorship zone had been approved prohibiting pro-life people from protesting, counselling, praying or even being located in the zone; Alleged News. [1] Director Vaughan-Spruce was carrying no sign and remained completely silent until approached by officers and said she “might” have been praying at the time of her arrest; Alleged News. [1]

Charged with four counts

She was eventually charged with with four counts of failing to comply with a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) by breaching an exclusion zone outside a Birmingham abortion clinic; Alleged News. [1]

Charges dropped

The Crown Prosecution Service eventually dropped the charges due to “insufficient evidence”, while informing her that they may be reinstated again; Alleged News. [1]

Charges permanently dismissed

But on February 16, 2023, a court evaluated the case again and found Director Vaughan-Spruce not guilty and permanently dismissed her charges; Alleged News. [1]

Father Sean Gough

Fr Sean Gough said that "silent prayer" is being criminalised, after charges claiming he intimidated service users near an abortion center were dropped; Alleged News. [2]  Fr Gough and Director Vaughan-Spruce were facing four charges at Birmingham Magistrates' Court ; Alleged News. [2] Speaking outside court after the hearing, Fr Gough said he was pleased he had been cleared and he stood by his conviction that unborn lives do matter; Alleged News. [2]

ADF UK legal counsel

ADF UK legal counsel Jeremiah Igunnubole also responded to the court's decision; Alleged News. [1] The legal group had been representing Director Vaughan-Spruce; Alleged News. [1] "Isabel and Father Sean's cases show that the current plans to introduce censorship zones across England and Wales constitute a dangerous step towards an illiberal society. We ask parliamentarians to think long and hard about whether we are still a free and democratic society and a free and democratic country and if so national censorship zones must be rejected," he said; Alleged News. [1]

Legislation to introduce censorship zones

In Westminster, parliamentarians are considering legislation to introduce censorship zones in England and Wales; Alleged News. [1]  Clause 9 of the Public Order Bill, currently under parliamentary debate, would prohibit pro-life volunteers from “influencing”, “advising”, “persuading”, “informing”, “occupying space” or even “expressing opinion” within the vicinity of an abortion facility; Alleged News. [1]

Those who breach the rules could face up to two years in prison; Alleged News.

A 2018 government review into the work of pro-life volunteers outside of abortion facilities found that instances of harassment are rare, and police already have powers to prosecute individuals engaging in such activities. The most common activities of pro-life groups were found to be quiet or silent prayer, or offering leaflets about charitable support available to women who would like to consider alternative options to abortion.

At 150m, the national censorship zones would be larger than a football pitch (115m). In the equivalent space, if one goalkeeper were to pray for the other goalkeeper – regardless of impact or noticeability – that would be an offence.

The censorial provisions of the parliamentary bill drew substantive criticism from members of the House of Lords, including Liberal Democrat Peer Lord Beith, who deemed the clause “the most profound restriction on free speech I have ever seen in any UK legislation,” Alleged News. [1]

Lord Farmer called the clause “fundamentally flawed”, and asked, “When one walks past, one sees that vigils are often small groups of harmless, mainly female, pensioners. Why should they be banned and silenced?” Alleged News. [1]

The Clause has caused great controversy following a statement released from the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State shortly after MPs voted to include it, admitting that the clause “could not be said to be compliant” with Convention rights as protected in the European Court of Human Rights; Alleged News. SOUTH AFRICA: VOICE OF UNBORN BABIES HEARD AS PARENTS GIVEN RIGHT TO BURY; ALLEGED NEWS

We pray for all babies who have died in the womb

and for their dear parents and families

PRETORIA SOUTH AFRICA: THE "VOICE OF THE UNBORN BABY" HAS FINALLY BEEN HEARD, ALLEGED NEWS. [1] Parents opting to bury their dead unborn child, even if the unborn is less than 26 weeks old, may now do so: Alleged News. [1] Previously, an unborn deceased child less than 26 weeks old was discarded as medical waste. This led to endless heartache in families for many years.

JUDGEMENT A VICTORY

While this judgement is considered a victory for prospective parents,  the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria has excluded the right to bury unborn children who have been medically terminated, including abortions; Alleged News. [1]

VOICE OF THE UNBORN BABY

A group called the "Voice of the Unborn Baby", as well as the Catholic Archdiocese of Durban, challenged the constitutionality of some of the provisions of the Births and Deaths Registration Act (Badra) as it related to how the remains of a spontaneous pregnancy loss of less than 26 weeks and the remains of an induced loss of pregnancy should be disposed of; Alleged News. [1]

JUDGE NOMONDE MNGQIBISA-THUSI

Judge Nomonde Mngqibisa-Thusi said that in the case of pregnancy loss, other than by medical intervention, bereaved parents should have the choice to bury the foetus, Alleged News. [1] The Judge moreover declared the provisions of Badra unconstitutional and invalid where it did not make provision for this: Alleged News. [1]

Parliament has a year to amend the act to make provision for the burial of an unborn child younger than 26 weeks; Alleged News. [1] The Constitutional Court will firstly need to confirm the judgment before it can come into effect: Alleged News. [1]

TRAUMA

The Judge said there was no doubt that pregnancy loss results in emotional and psychological pain or trauma to the prospective parents: Alleged News. [1]

AN UNBORN BABY IS NOT MEDICAL WASTE

The applicants had argued that the emotional pain and grief these parents suffer was no different from those of parents of a stillbirth, taking into account the emotional investment made and the bonding between the parents and the unborn child, Alleged News. [1]

“The emotional pain is exacerbated by the manner in which the foetal remains are dealt with after separation from the mother, and the lack of sympathy received from hospital staff during the separation. These foetal remains are put together with other medical waste and incinerated.

“It cannot be disputed that to the medical staff the foetal remains may be just trash or waste. But to the would-be parents it is not just a thing to be thrown away. To them the foetal remains represent what could have been a child, in some instances a long-awaited child,” the Judge said.

She added that treating the foetal remains as waste was “to say the least, insensitive and disrespectful to the parents who procreated with the hope that the foetus will result in a living being”.

The Judge said there was no reason why the provisions cannot be adapted to cater for a loss of pregnancy other than a stillbirth for those who wish to perform the last rites for the prospective baby and conduct a burial.

“The dignity of the parents who have suffered a loss will be restored. There is no rational link between the purpose of incinerating the foetal remains of a pregnancy loss other than a stillbirth and the cause of the loss.

“Allowing the parents’ to bury the foetal remains under the circumstances will go a long way towards ameliorating the pain caused by the loss and will assist in the process of healing,” the Judge said; Alleged News. [1]

Judge Mngqibisa-Thusi concluded that those parents who request a burial (excluding medical terminations) should be given the right to do so: Alleged News. [1]

HUMAN BEINGS ARE NOT PRODUCTS

Donum Vitae, the Instruction on Respect for Human Life in its Origin and on the Dignity of Procreation,  [1] was issued on 22 February 1987 by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger.

In the document, the Pontiff Emeritus states, "The corpses of human embryos and foetuses, whether they have been deliberately aborted or not, must be respected just as the remains of other human beings. ... Also, in the case of dead foetuses, as for the corpses of adult persons, all commercial trafficking must be considered illicit and should be prohibited."

This guidance within Donum Vitae serves as reminder that current controversy respecting abortion-contaminant vaccines is not merely academic. At the heart of the debate is whether commercialization of aborted babies' historic remnants for vacinal purpose is of questionable morality.

The sale of an innocent has precedent. Christ was sold for thirty silver pieces. Counsel within Donum Vitae would prevent repetition of the same mistake. Commercial trafficking of aborted unborn must be unequivocally rejected.

Of note to observers is the fact that efficacious vaccines which carry no ethical stigma are available. John Paul II Medical Research [2] and Charlotte Lozier Institutes [3] continue as forerunners in respect of ethical vaccines production which do not utilize abortion-derived fetal cell-lines. Other means of manufacture such as umbilical cord cells and adult stem cells are used. Placenta from newborns is donated.

The statement "Physician support for ethical vaccines" released in December 2020 by Catholic Medical Association et al [5] considers that JP II Medical Research Institute's use of umbilical cord and adult stem cells and other ethical approaches provide encouragement for the future, where no vaccine will violate the dignity of human life in their products.
